We treat the character classes as though everyone would know that that's a Barbarian, and thus all enemies will know they have resistance to damage. I always used my Radiant Consumption when I fired off a particularly powerful spell maximized with my Channel Divinity, such as Chain Lightning, or at level 19+, Lightning Storm (lightning damage Meteor Swarm).Īlso, for our final fight, my character ascended, and when I transformed into my divine self, assuming the stats and abilities of a Solar, I also activated my Radiant Consumption.Īnd at the very end of the battle, I even cast Whirlwind centered on myself to resemble my character building up a massive storm around himself, as he rose to become a new deity of storm and war, known as the Paladin in the Heart of the Storm. My “Rage“ was Haste, which I shared with our crossbow fighter or our pally with the words “May the Storm guide you!“ and my Extra Attack/Smite was twinned and quickened Booming Blade. I played a Scourge Aasimar Storm Sorcerer 18 / Tempest Cleric all the way up to level 20 in terms of playstyle he was closer to a barbarian or paladin considering he was built for melee with plate armor, a massive greatsword and a focus on str and con (and a belt of giant strength). Although it feels unfair as the other Aasimar (Fallen & Protector), also keep their transformations and that is a boon to them. Which is fitting, in that Saiyan transformations are strenuous enough to cause great damage. So, a Scourge Aasimar who goes unconscious can kill themselves by taking damage from their Consumption. However, one interesting stipulation of Aasimar Transformations is that they don't end on going unconscious. Honestly, this makes me feel like a Scourge was made with Barbarians in mind, and given their lore, it makes sense they'd be emotional. Grappling with your raging might also keeps enemies in your radiance. Getting angry and lighting up like the Sun gets you close to emulating an anime character as most characters can.īut, surprisingly, this is pretty good for a Barbarian, as the self-damage from Radiant Consumption keeps you in Rage, enabling you to use your Action for typically non-Barbarian actions like Dashing. If you are a Scourge Aasimar Barbarian, you can Rage & activate Radiant Consumption on your first turn of combat.
